The JCIA works in conjunction with the Jersey City Police Department to safely secure and store all impounded vehicles. The Police Department impounds vehicles which are towed and stored at our Phillips Street facility. Our staff is responsible for notifying the owner’s that their vehicle has been impounded and what they need to do to have them released.

Unclaimed vehicles are auctioned at our facility located at 501 Route 440. All auctions are advertised in the local papers.

Vehicles that are impounded are held at a facility located at 100 Phillips Street in Jersey City. The Car Pound operates 24 hours a day but owners can only obtain a release of their vehicles during the following periods:

• Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00AM and 5:30PM
• Saturday between the hours of 8:00AM and 3:30PM.
