The JCIA's Environmental Compliance Department is responsible for monitoring and enforcing all City Codes (Chapter 287) relating to solid waste disposal and recycling activities. They insure all individuals residing or conducting business within the city adhere to all solid waste regulations.
Inspections are conducted when illegal dumping is suspected or possible violations have been reported. Depending upon the nature of the violation, Inspectors issue either warnings or summonses and follow-up inspections are done to insure violations are corrected.
Illegal dumping is a main concern, not only does it cost the Agency and ultimately residents a significant amount of money to clean-up but it also negatively impacts the quality of life of our residents. We request you contact our offices if you witness illegal dumping or activities you think are questionable.
Our Environmental Hazardous Response Personnel works in conjunction with the JCFD, OEM (Office of Emergency Management) and other City, State & Federal agencies insuring compliance with state & federal regulations. Staff also responds to hazardous waste spills or privately owned locations which may be operating outside said regulations. |
