ANTI-GRAFFITI TASK FORCE

The Jersey City Anti-Graffiti Task Force (AGTF) takes pride in our community by preventing and removing graffiti. The focus of this program is to work with educators, law enforcement, residents and business owners to control and prevent the damaging effects of graffiti, through ERADICATION, ENFORCEMENT and EDUCATION.

GRAFFITI REMOVAL
The JCIA crews are assigned daily to locate graffiti throughout the city. Graffiti is unsightly and diminishes the beauty of our neighborhoods as well as depreciating the value of property. Our staff utilizes two methods of graffiti removal. One is a high-pressure washer and the other is the actual painting of surfaces that have been tagged by graffiti.

It is required that all property owners sign a release form prior to any surface being cleaned. It is also mandatory in the cases of repainting of surfaces that the owners provide the paint and the JCIA will provide the labor.

For more information please call the Anti-Graffiti Task Force at (201)432-4645 ext. 634.

BROKEN WINDOW SYNDROME

"A house or office building with all its glass intact tends to stay intact. But, if one of the windows is broken and it is not immediately repaired, pretty soon all of the other windows will be broken because people will think no one cares. It's the opening wedge to more serious decay in the quality of life. When people see graffiti unattended, they believe the quality of their life has been threatened in a personal way and they begin to wonder whether the good guys or the bad guys control the neighborhood."
