The JCIA can coordinate the cleaning of all lots, both city-owned and those owned by private parties. Private properties can only be cleaned after a JCIA Environmental Inspector has inspected the property.
If a violation is found, a notice of violation is issued to the owner. He or she then has ten (10) days to rectify the problem. If the owner fails to act, staff from the Jersey City Incinerator Authority will clean the property and issue a bill to the owner or possibly place a lien on the property.
Crews from the JCIA equipped with front-end loaders, skid-steer loaders, brooms, rakes, and shovels are assigned to conduct these clean-ups. |
