Refrigerators and Air Conditioners.
(Special collection is required by law)

  • Call the JCIA Main Office, Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at (201) 432-4645 ext. 600 to schedule a pickup. (Week days only)

Why special collection is required.

  • Refrigerators and air conditioners release ozone-destroying chemicals, called CFC's, during repair and disposal.

What the State and Federal Governments require.

  • New Jersey prohibits crushing or other actions that may release CFC's from refrigerators or air conditioners prior to proper collection and recycling.
  • The Federal Clean Air Act Amendments (Section 608) prohibits any individual from knowingly venting refrigerants such as CFC's into the atmosphere.

ITEM SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Wood

Clean untreated, unpainted lumber and tree parts longer than 4 feet long: Drop off Mon. - Fri. 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the JCIA Main Office (501 Route 440).

Tree Parts shorter than 4 feet: curbside collection available on Wednesdays by appointment only. Call the Forestry Dept. at (201) 547-4449.

Leaves FROM OCTOBER TO DECEMBER
Collection days will be advertised, Free biodegradable brown paper bags for leaf collection will be provided. NO PLASTIC BAGS FOR LEAVES PLEASE!
Christmas Trees Picked up every Thursday in January. DO NOT WRAP OR BAG.
Tires Commercial or residential tires can be dropped off Mon. - Fri. 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the JCIA Main Office (501 Route 440).
Paint Cans

Oil Based Paint must be dropped off at the JCIA Drop off Mon. - Fri. 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the JCIA Main Office (501 Route 440). Proof of residency is required.

Latex Based Paint cans (once rinsed out and covers are taken off) can be placed at the curb with regular garbage; no longer needs to be drop off at our site.

Alkaline Batteries Alkaline batteries can be placed at the curb with regular garbage; no longer needs to be dropped off at our site.
Oil / Antifreeze Drop off Mon. - Fri. 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the JCIA Main Office (501 Route 440). Five gallon limit per person. Proof of residency is required.
